These posters derived from doing research about the history of writing. While analyzing a certain style, I also practiced to write it, naturally with original tools like self cut quills, reed pens or pointed nibs. Once finishing a script, I added a paragraph to the poster, so it just looked like the pieces what writing masters did in the medieval age.
The project slowly evolved over the course of a year, doing one draft poster first, followed by two fine tuned versions – one in b/w, the other one with red highlights.
The body copy is a poem called In the dull village from Constantine P. Cavafy, slightly modified.
If you are interested in the reference list of scripts and tools used, just drop me a line and I will send you the PDF.
